Autopatrol given

[edit]

Hello. I just wanted to let you know that I have granted autopatrol rights to your account; the reason for this is that I believe you are sufficiently trustworthy and experienced to have your contributions automatically marked as "reviewed". This has no effect on your editing, it is simply intended to make it easier for users that are monitoring Recent changes or Recent uploads to find unproductive edits amidst the productive ones like yours. In addition, the Flickr upload feature and an increased number of batch-uploads in UploadWizard, uploading of freely licensed MP3 files, overwriting files uploaded by others and an increased limit for page renames per minute are now available to you. Thank you. Raymond (talk) 05:55, 28 May 2025 (UTC)Reply

Thank you! That's nice of you.

[edit]

Hi, at File:Allers Spree 25 Im 'Zoologischen'.jpg you added P31 as photography. It is a drawing, I changed it. Be careful when using tools. -- Gerd Fahrenhorst (talk) 06:31, 25 July 2025 (UTC)Reply

Sorry about that. Yaron Koren (talk) 15:52, 25 July 2025 (UTC)Reply

Instance of: photograph

[edit]

Are you sure that P31 on Wikidata is not something merely for Wikidata items?

In any event, you cannot mark dozens of millions of photos on Commons. This is clearly a bot task (perhaps for Schlurcher's bot) and no one should try it as mass edits without bot flag. --A.Savin 07:15, 25 July 2025 (UTC)Reply

"instance of" is indeed used heavily on Wikimedia Commons, and the vast majority of the time (for 43 million items) it is used to state that something is a photograph - see here. That said, maybe it's not that helpful to add additional "instance of: photograph" values. I really haven't done it that much - maybe for a few thousand items - and maybe even that was too many. AutoCats

[edit]

Is AutoCats broken? The image at left is broken, I haven't seen any values there lately (though that could be a matter of what I'm looking at) and when I hover over it I get nothing (but maybe that's always been the case for an image with no AutoCats). - Jmabel ! talk 23:47, 13 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for pointing this out. I fixed the image, but the much bigger problem is the lack of displayed values. It looks like Wikimedia Commons tightened their security, so JS scripts can no longer access an arbitrary website - in this case, commonswalkabout.org. I'm looking into if there's any way to get around this problem. Yaron Koren (talk) 13:54, 18 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Jmabel - after a few months, I finally looked into this problem, and (with some help from @Bawolff) I was able to fully fix it. Sorry for the delay, and I hope it works better for you now! Yaron Koren (talk) 09:05, 21 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
