What are the general duties for an Appliance Service Technician?
Appliance service technicians diagnose and repair major household appliances and restaurant cooking equipment including refrigerators, freezers, built-in ovens, electric and gas ranges, dishwashers, washing machines and, electric and gas dryers. Once a problem has been identified, the appliance service technician adjusts or repairs the appliance and replaces any faulty or worn parts. The service technician then reassembles the appliance and tests it for proper operation.
What are the general working conditions?
Appliance service technicians generally work alone with little or no supervision, repairing appliances in the customer's home or place of business.
The appliance service technician usually works a 40-hour week. Overtime may be required in an emergency or at busy times of the year.
Servicing major household appliances / restaurant equipment requires both physical strength and manual dexterity. High end kitchen products can weigh upwards of 200 kg (400 lbs).
